Up Garage - Tokyo

When in Japan, one of the things reccommended is to visit a second hand parts shop! But this is unlke anything you could imagine...this shop was HEAVEN! with 1000s of sets of wheels, exhausts, kits, suspension etc, it baffles me why anyone buys parts new, these were great quality parts, at VERY low prices! Also at Up Garage we found their D1GP demo car, which is drove my Ken Maeda, and got a good look around it! Here are some photos from the shop...

Ebisu Drift day

Monday, we made our way from Nagoya to Tokyo by Shinkansen (bullet train), after we arrived Tokyo, we checked into our hotel in Yokohama, and made our way to Fukushima 3 hours away by train, then Nihonmatsu to Ebisu Circuit - Drift land of Japan! The plan today was to meet up with friend Andy, from Power Vehicles, who was running a drift day for him and few others. We arrived and passed the Safari Park, making our way up to the track, then we were greeted by Rx7s, skylines, AE86s, Silvias etc, it was raining AGAIN, very heavily but this was still going to be fun! Took lots of photos, and got a few laps of the circuit in Yashio Factory's RX7, UNREAL - even though the temperature guage was off the scale, haha! check out some of the photos...

D1 Suzuka photos...

D1GP @ Suzuka, Japan

Hey everyone, on my recent trip i was lucky enough to get to cover D1GP round at Suzuka Circuit in Japan. This was the first drift round to be held at Suzuka, and it certainly won't be the last. We arrived the Saturday morning greeted by scorching sunshine, and crazy temperatures, we just knew there would be plenty of tyre smoke, haha! After paying in on day 1, we were told the Sunday was sold out!! NOT GOOD! We tried all our contacts, but nobody could help, then we got talking to one of the mechanics in the pits, and explained the situation. Shino Kouba is a mechanic for her company AMAZEMENT, and Winds Auto cars in Saitama, Japan, near Tokyo. How she did it i will never know, but she managed to blag us VIP, all access passes for the sunday, we could not have been more grateful and lucky, we are still thanking Shino for all her help, and will be forever grateful, amazing kindess! The Sunday kicked off in style with us meeting Inada Daijiro in the train station on the way to Suzuka, and chatting about Option/D1, great start! The event itself was unreal, HIGH speed drifting, with plenty of action. The final was Hiraoka in S15 and Nomura in R34, but Nomuken spun out on last run and handed the win to Hiroaka! There is just nothing like a domestic round of D1 in Japan - UNREAL atmosphere! I can't wait to i get back, here are a few pics from the camera....enjoy!

Japan...

hey everyone, i just got back from Japan, most amazing time there, started in Osaka, then onto D1 @ Suzuka, then Nagoya, up to Yokohama, Tokyo etc, seen so much, it will take me a long time explaining it all, but i will try, here are some random pics too, mostly of me in Yokohama's Minato Mirai. Aww i met sooo many people there, through work, and just in general, it was cool. Im going to upload photos from each day, tuning shop, events in their own post, so watch this space....talk soon!

Pro Drift

No rest for me, the next day i was off to Dublin, Punchestown to be exact, for SLAM show and Europe's first round of Pro Drift Series! The track was a street course, designed by Pro Drift driver Darren Mc Namara and HKS driver Julian Smith, and boy it didn't disappoint, never have i seen such a display of drifting here in Ireland. 4th gear, some even trying 5th, over 100mph sideways, INSANE! Tyres were lasting 2 runs maximum, which is crazy, but i guess only in Ireland check some of the pics again!

Between all this i have been snowed under with sorting stuff for Japan trip, but all is sorted, and good to go! Now im tired, and still gotta edit up more pics and write articles! talk soon, take care!
