Local meet...

Every month the local club RMS has its monthly meet. We usually choose a different town/area, all meet up for photos, chat, food etc. The last few months I've missed the meet, so I was lucky to be in town for this one. We all drove up to Gosford Forest Park, parked up to enjoy the sunshine and chat. BBQ was fired up too. Hopefully it's the first of many for this summer! I didn't take many pics...just relaxed after Vienna! Though you can see the 180sx in this one. Next stop is Knockhill, Scotland for European Drift Championship Rd 2.

Vienna...by night

One of the best things I found about Vienna was the opportunity for night photos. It really was great fun and challenge for some nice pics. As good as the buildings and sights were at day light, they really are even better by night. So armed with tripod and cameras, we abused the amazing transport system to check out everything all over again in the dark hours, aswell as sunset over the Danube! Enjoy...

Sunset over the River Danube...

Modern part of Vienna, reminds me of Yokohama.

Stunning views by night time too, makes for great pics!

It really would be a shame not to re-visit at night...

Transport rocks in Vienna...we need this everywhere!

Vienna...by day

Next stop was Vienna, Wien! As soon we I arrived here I knew it would be a great stay! Very clean streets, nice modern places, and stunning architecture. I was surprised at how 'international' Vienna really is. Many different nationalities working and living there. After this short trip it's clear to see why. It's expensive sometimes compared to some other places, but no more than UK/Ireland. The food and service is much better though, with a very friendly culture. Publick transport is simply perfection. The subway system takes you ANYWHERE you need to, and is cheap! It really is the perfect example. All this combined with some great warm, sunny weather made for a very nice trip! I definetly think I'll stop by again soon!
I decided to post photos of Vienna by day first...

Amazing architecture and history in this city!

Some beautiful buildings, churches, gardens etc...

Modern places too of course...

A nice view from the Ferris Wheel.

Europe...

Been seriously lagging with the updates recently, but I've just been too busy to blog. Though finally I have some free time to relax and write up about the latest happenings in my life. I've been in Europe last week. Joined by Angie for Bratislava, Slovakia. It's a place I really didn't know much about before going there. It really isn't what I expected, but certainly has some nice and cool places to check out. The food is good, hotel rocked, and everyone was friendly, so that was nice. Good place for a relaxing stop over in Europe!

I just had to check out this cool UFO style building...

Once up there, its a great view from the Observation Deck!

Pictures say a thousand words...a beautiful city!

Pretty cool place, and is the gateway to Vienna!

Very European style, made for some nice photos...

Formula D - Singapore...

Well it all kicked off this weekend, an event I have been watching very closely. Formula D landed to invade Singapore with tuned drift cars, plenty of smoking tyres, and LOTS of sideways drift action! I have been monitoring the 'scene' lately in Singapore, and amazed at how passionate the population is when it comes to cars, and new sports such as drifting. All 11,000 tickets were sold out in a shot for this exhibition at the Changi Air Show grounds. Huge media interest and great setting and drivers made sure for an amazing event for all... I predict big things for SG drifting! I will continue to follow the scene in SG, and check it out in person at the end of the year, so I'm already making my contacts for that trip...should be interesting!

Driver and Media day briefing...

Street style course set up...looks great!

Mad Mike Whiddet from NZ rocked the FD RX7 to 3rd place...

The final 2...Malaysia's Tengku Djan in his AE86 battled it out with Japanese Drift hero Ryuji Miki, who was back in the Apexi RX7. Miki got first place, to win the first ever Formula D Singapore event!

Some video footage, listen to that crowd! Awsome

D1GP Fuji...

BIG congratulations to Yoshinori Koguchi on winning D1GP round 2 at Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka. 2nd/3rd went to Daigo Saito, and Tezuka Tsuyoshi. D1 has took off strong this year, with the return of several top drivers, new cars, tracks, and positive attitude. I would really love to catch the Tokyo Drift round at Odaiba...Round 3 is Suzuka!

Pro Drift Round 1...

Back to cars, and back to drifting...Pro Drift to be exact. Round 1 of the European series kicked off this weekend at Mondello Park. A very cold weekend, and some new 'rules' at Mondello Circuit made things a little irritating. So I just kicked back and watched for a change. It was a nice drive there, which was fun. The entry price however was not! 30 euro per person, then an additional 15 euro for the grandstand, this was rediculous! After talking to the guys, this was NOT a ProDrift thing, it was down to the Mondello Circuit. Quite a few changes seemed to have put a damper on it, for me and many others. I kind of got the feeling it wasn't PD in charge on the day, which was a shame, and stopped them running the great show we are all used to! But I wont be completly negative. The event did run smoothly and some fantastic drifting was on show all day. UK and European drivers battling with Irish made for some interesting drama. Drifts and crashes as usual. Roll on the next event...

I wasn't even in the mood for photos, but I just took out the point and shoot for some pics of my favourite cars on the day...enjoy!

Burger Time...

Aswell as cars, you know I love food, hence the 'reviews' lately of some restaurants I have been visiting! It's been a while since I had a 'real' burger, so after being recommended this place I thought sure, lets check it out! Jo Burger, in Rathmines, Dublin was hit up last week for some lunch. WOW, I never expected anything like this. Cool place, atmosphere rocked, cool music, inside was decorated with graffiti walls and art, even the menu comes served inside a funky 1970's Comic Book. Really unique place with great service!

The burger menu is awsome, with so much to choose from, then the portion is HUGE, impossible to eat like regular burgers...I hear its also open late, so maybe I will check it out at night sometime too. I definetly recommend it, if in town, hit up Jo Burger! You'll love it!
