Formula D - Singapore...

Well it all kicked off this weekend, an event I have been watching very closely. Formula D landed to invade Singapore with tuned drift cars, plenty of smoking tyres, and LOTS of sideways drift action! I have been monitoring the 'scene' lately in Singapore, and amazed at how passionate the population is when it comes to cars, and new sports such as drifting. All 11,000 tickets were sold out in a shot for this exhibition at the Changi Air Show grounds. Huge media interest and great setting and drivers made sure for an amazing event for all... I predict big things for SG drifting! I will continue to follow the scene in SG, and check it out in person at the end of the year, so I'm already making my contacts for that trip...should be interesting!

Driver and Media day briefing...

Street style course set up...looks great!

Mad Mike Whiddet from NZ rocked the FD RX7 to 3rd place...

The final 2...Malaysia's Tengku Djan in his AE86 battled it out with Japanese Drift hero Ryuji Miki, who was back in the Apexi RX7. Miki got first place, to win the first ever Formula D Singapore event!

Some video footage, listen to that crowd! Awsome

D1GP Fuji...

BIG congratulations to Yoshinori Koguchi on winning D1GP round 2 at Fuji Speedway, Shizuoka. 2nd/3rd went to Daigo Saito, and Tezuka Tsuyoshi. D1 has took off strong this year, with the return of several top drivers, new cars, tracks, and positive attitude. I would really love to catch the Tokyo Drift round at Odaiba...Round 3 is Suzuka!

Pro Drift Round 1...

Back to cars, and back to drifting...Pro Drift to be exact. Round 1 of the European series kicked off this weekend at Mondello Park. A very cold weekend, and some new 'rules' at Mondello Circuit made things a little irritating. So I just kicked back and watched for a change. It was a nice drive there, which was fun. The entry price however was not! 30 euro per person, then an additional 15 euro for the grandstand, this was rediculous! After talking to the guys, this was NOT a ProDrift thing, it was down to the Mondello Circuit. Quite a few changes seemed to have put a damper on it, for me and many others. I kind of got the feeling it wasn't PD in charge on the day, which was a shame, and stopped them running the great show we are all used to! But I wont be completly negative. The event did run smoothly and some fantastic drifting was on show all day. UK and European drivers battling with Irish made for some interesting drama. Drifts and crashes as usual. Roll on the next event...

I wasn't even in the mood for photos, but I just took out the point and shoot for some pics of my favourite cars on the day...enjoy!

Burger Time...

Aswell as cars, you know I love food, hence the 'reviews' lately of some restaurants I have been visiting! It's been a while since I had a 'real' burger, so after being recommended this place I thought sure, lets check it out! Jo Burger, in Rathmines, Dublin was hit up last week for some lunch. WOW, I never expected anything like this. Cool place, atmosphere rocked, cool music, inside was decorated with graffiti walls and art, even the menu comes served inside a funky 1970's Comic Book. Really unique place with great service!

The burger menu is awsome, with so much to choose from, then the portion is HUGE, impossible to eat like regular burgers...I hear its also open late, so maybe I will check it out at night sometime too. I definetly recommend it, if in town, hit up Jo Burger! You'll love it!

Sakura...

It's Sakura season in Japan...aka Cherry Blossom!

Big thanks to all my friends for sending me photos, especially Yuhi and Koko for these pics...Damn I really miss Sakura Season in Japan!

Maybe I can catch it again another time...

Scotland...

Had a little trip to Bonnie Scotland this week with Angie. It has been a LONG time since I visited Scotland, so it was a nice short trip. We went to Glasgow first. It is not what I expected at all. Small, nothing really to do or see, but in a way it was relaxing, even like home. It is a simple city centre, good access, subway and clean and modern. Was a fun stay. Next stop was Edinburgh. This was a much more fun city, more beautiful, and lots to do and see. It really is the Capital. A guide tour of Edinburgh Castle was a must, so this provided a great day. It really was a nice break, and good to relax and spend time together, even though it was so cold. Check out the photos...

Drift / Drag...

Been seriously lagging with updates, just been doing so much. So now it's catch up time! Last week I got to visit Bishop's Court circuit for a local event. These events usually hold Drifting and Drag in the same place, which keeps everyone happy. Been a while since I have been here, so it was good to catch up some old faces, and see some new talent and cars. It really has developed so much in a short time!

The Drifting has came on well, great cars and driving!

I was probably more interested in Drag Racing this time, it has been a while, so it was good to see! Check out the full Carbon bodied Supercharged AE86 Vs R33 Skyline...Best race of the day!

Where there's Drag, there's Honda! Some good races today...

Fully kitted out 350Z on 19" Rays wheels was stunning...

Probably my favourite of the day, very fast DC2 Integra!

Drift season...

There has been so much happening lately in the 'Tuning world', but this time of the year can only mean one thing...DRIFT! This weekend seen the return of Drift for everyone, as D1GP kicked off the new season at Ebisu Circuit in Fukushima,JP! As usual a packed out, capacity crowd, and some top class drifting...I wont spoil it by revealing the results, you can check it out on D1GP website. It sure is good to have D1 back again...hope to catch a round soon!

Speaking of things coming back...a certain HKS Altezza is returning to D1GP, which means No One Better...Taniguchi San! It was revealed this week on Taniguchi's personal blog, in Japanese, that he will compete in several D1 rounds this season, aswell as the special exhibition event at Odaiba, Tokyo! This is HUGE news!

Also, EDC will have Round 1 of the European Drift Series, and also Formula D will kick off its new season in 2 weeks at Long Beach, aswell as an Exhibition event in Singapore on April 27.

Finally the Irish drift season will start on April 19/20 as ProDrift hits Mondello Park. Be sure to check it out... I know I will.

More 180sx...

Another quick update on the car. Today I payed a visit to local tuner A.I Autosport for some fine tuning and setup for the 180sx. With a slight 'missing' during/coming on high boost, and AirFlow problem diagnosed before hand, we tried a few adjustments when on the dyno, to try fix the problem and be running 100%. After, AFM, and some fine mapping, then Jonny reprogrammed the HKS EVC Boost controller, everything was running perfect again, and boosting very smoothly and efficient! Great work, making a fast car, faster!

Next step was the suspension, for a fine damper tune and setup! But the 180sx didn't like it, and tried to eat Phil in this photo...haha!

Huge thanks to Jonny and Phil @ A.I Autosport!
